The Battle for The Sean Robbins Cup resumes this weekend when the 2nd round of the Molloy Enviromental Senior Hurling Championship gets underway.
The first game this weekend sees reigning Champions Coolderry take on Birr in Shinrone on Friday night at 7.45pm, in what is a repeat of last years semi-final which Coolderry won 2-15 to 1-10.
On Saturday evening a double header at O’Connor Pk sees Seir Kieran play 2014 Intermediate Champions Shamrocks at 6pm, when these sides met in 2015, it was the Clareenmen who came out on top 0-21 to 0-17. This will be followed by a repeat of last years other semi-final between St Rynagh’s and Kilcormac/Killoughey at the same venue. On that occasion it was Rynagh’s who had six points to spare 1-22 to 1-16.
On Sunday morning it’s the clash of Shinrone and Ballinamere in Kilcormac at 11.30am. Shinrone had an eight point win over Belmont in their opening encounter this year, while Ballinamere will be seeking to get back on track after losing to St Rynagh’s by five points in their first match.
Sunday evening sees a double header in Rath. At 6pm 2015 Intermediate Champions Lusmagh take on Belmont who were narrowly defeated by Kilcormac/Killoughey at quarter-final stage in 2015. The second game sees Kinnitty take on Tullamore, a must win for both sides havign lost their opening games to Birr and Seir Kieran respectively.
