The path is cleared for county finals in the Molloy Enviromental Systems Offaly Senior, Senior ‘B’ and Intermediate Hurling Championships after another action-packed weekend of games in Offaly.

Kilcormac-Killoughey and St Rynagh’s will meet in the Senior decider for the first time since 2017 after hard-earned victories over Belmont and Birr. In both games, goals were the decisive factor.

On Saturday evening, Kilcormac-Killoughey defeated Belmont by 1-22 to 1-18, having led by eight points with just over five minutes remaining. Cathal Kiely scored the only goal for the winners, while a late green flag by Mark Cahill wasn’t enough to save Belmont.

Twenty-four hours later, St Rynagh’s came through in Bord na Mona O’Connor Park by 1-20 to 0-17 against Birr. There was nothing between the teams for most of the hour. In a game dominated by free-takers, a late Aaron Kelly strike was decisive for the Banagher men.

Meanwhile, in the Senior ‘B’ Championship, both Kinnitty and Drumcullen guaranteed themselves top-flight hurling in 2021, with two teams being promoted from this grade.

Drumcullen defeated Tullamore by 3-14 to 2-15 on Saturday, and with three Gaths – Dermot, Colm and Eoin – all raising green flags. Then, on Sunday afternoon, Kinnitty defeated Clodiagh Gaels by 2-15 to 0-17, with the goals registered by Aodhan Kealy and Tommy Leahy.

Meanwhile, in the Intermediate Hurling Championship, there were semi-final victories for Shinrone over St Rynagh’s and Coolderry over Shamrocks.

Here’s the main results of the weekend –

Senior Hurling Championship semi-finals: Kilcormac-Killoughey 1-22, Belmont 1-18; St Rynagh’s 1-20, Birr 0-17.

Senior ‘B’ Hurling Championship semi-finals: Drumcullen 3-14, Tullamore 2-15; Kinnitty 2-15, Clodiagh Gaels 0-17.
