Offaly have played brilliantly in each of their six championship games this season, with an emphatic Leinster semi-final victory over Dublin, followed by a defeat of Laois in the provincial decider, and then Clare in the All-Ireland semi-final.
Munster championship Tipperary overcame Clare in their provincial final after a penalty shoot-out and they followed-up with a defeat of Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final.
There promises to be a massive crowd in Kilkenny for the game, as Offaly seek their first All-Ireland title at this grade since 1989.
