The Tullamore Court Hotel Offaly Club Football Championships are progressing quickly and the knock-out stages are approaching in most grades.

Group 3 games were held on Sunday, 19th September in the Senior and Senior B Championships.

SENIOR

Durrow & Tullamore are directly through to the semi-finals after topping Groups 1 & 2 respectively. No team in the championship has a 100% record and so it’s still difficult to predict an outright winner.

In the quarter-finals, Rhode take on Shamrocks while Ferbane meet Edenderry, with those games due to take place in two weeks’ time.

The Round 3 results were Durrow 1-13, Cappincur 0-11; Rhode 4-12, Ferbane 3-13; Tullamore 0-15, Rhode 2-9; Shamrocks 1-11, Bracknagh 1-8.

SENIOR B

Clara are the only team in the Senior B Championship with full points from their three games as they hope to bounce back quickly after being relegated last season. Their neighbours Tubber are also into a semi-final after a very tight Group 1.

In the quarter-finals, Walsh Island will meet St Rynagh’s, while Ballycumber will take on Erin Rovers in a local derby.

Results from Round 3 were: Walsh Island 2-12, Gracefield 1-12; Tubber 1-13, Erin Rovers 1-9; Clara 3-11, St Rynagh’s 1-8; Ballycumber 0-15, Ferbane 0-7.

On Saturday, 18th September, the final group games took place in the Intermediate and Junior A Championships.

INTERMEDIATE

Clodiagh Gaels topped Group 1 with four points from three games, and stayed ahead of Raheen who also had four points thanks to their narrow victory in Round 1. Shannonbridge occupied third place. In Group 2, last year’s Junior Champions Daingean continued their excellent form with three wins from three so far, finishing the group ahead of Clonbullogue and St Brigid’s.

So with Clodiagh Gaels and Daingean into the semi-finals, the quarter-finals are Raheen v St Brigid’s and Clonbullogue v Shannonbridge. Ballycommon and Kilcormac-Killoughey must meet in a relegation play-off.

JUNIOR A

Tullamore (Group 1) and Doon (Group 2) have 100% records and so progressed directly to the semi-finals of the Junior A Championship. The quarter-final pairings are Rhode v ‘An Tulach Mhór’ and Ballinagar v Edenderry.

(‘An Tulach Mhór’ is the name given to one of the two teams from Tullamore GAA Club in this championship)
