Offaly won the U17 Celtic Challenge, William Robinson Cup with an 8-12 to 1-13 victory over neighbours Westmeath at a sun drenched TEG Cusack Pk on Friday evening.  Two Shane Connolly goals in the opening quarter saw Offaly open up a 2-4 to 0-3 lead and from there they never looked back.  Further first half goals from Eoin Burke (penalty), and Connolly gave Offaly a 4-6 to 1-7 half time lead.  The Westmeath goal came from the penalty spot.

On the resumption Offaly picked up where they left off with substitute Ben Miller adding two goals, Burke also got his second, while Connolly added another to bring the Coolderry’s lads total to four, as Offaly ran out comfortable 20 point winners.

On Sunday, the other Offaly team in this competition won the William Robinson consolation final with a 5-21 to 1-11 victory over Kildare. The panel was Liam Hoare, Neil Minnock, Ailbe Watkins, Canice Stevenson, Oisin Carroll, Anthony Lawlor, Stephen Gleeson, Stephen Gilligan, Oisin Guinan, Sean Brady, Daniel Hand, Kevin Maher, William Grace, Sean Delaney, Eoin Bailey O Brien, Eoghan Spain, Paul Heather, Eric Rigney and Anthony Gorman.
