The Offaly hurlers’ fund-raising initiatives for charity last weekend turned out to be a resounding success, with over €55,000 raised for Offaly Down Syndrome Association and Jigsaw Offaly.
Donations received far exceeded expectations and the hurlers, together with team manager Michael Fennelly, wish to pass on thanks to all who contributed to the success of the event.
The highlight of the weekend was a virtual Variety Show on Saturday evening, with 14 acts performing. Members of the Offaly Camogie panel stole the show and secured first prize thanks to their performance of ‘An Offaly Bad Carpool Karaoke’ and their remarkable fund-raising.
Then, on Sunday morning, more members of the panel engaged in a relay solo-run from the Down Syndrome office in Kilcormac to the Jigsaw office in Tullamore.
All in all it was a fantastic effort from all involved and the goodwill shown by so many people augurs well for the future.
