Offaly’s U20 Footballers became the inaugural winners of the Liam O’Connor Cup when they defeated Westmeath on Wednesday evening 12th June.
With previous wins over Limerick, Wicklow and Clare Offaly went into the game knowing that a win would secure the Title.
It was fitting tribute to Offaly great Liam O’Connor who the League was named after.
Liam represented Offaly and Walsh Island with amazing distinction and nobody will ever forget the long lobbing ball he landed to Seamus Darby for the most famous goal in GAA history when Offaly stopped the famous Kerry 5 in a row in 1982.
