Semi-final showdowns with St Rynagh’s v Birr and Kilcormac-Killoughey v Belmont are in store following the final round of group games in the Molloy Precast Offaly Senior Hurling Championship.
Both St Rynagh’s, the reigning champions, and Kilcormac-Killoughey maintained their 100% records this season with victories over Shinrone and Seir Kieran, respectively.
The contest for second spot in Group 1, behind K-K, was won by Birr with an easier than expected victory over Coolderry. Goals by Niall Lyons (2) and Barry Harding helped Barry Whelahan’s side to a 3-19 to 0-11 victory. Meanwhile, the crunch game in Group 2 resulted in a 1-18 to 1-11 win for Belmont over Ballinamere, with regular goal-scorer Oisin Kelly again finding the net for the winners late in the first half.
There were some crunch games in the Senior B grade also, with significant wins for Clodiagh Gaels and Drumcullen, in particular, while K-K’s defeat of Lusmagh knocked out Joachim Kelly’s charges.
The penultimate round match-ups are Clodiagh Gaels v Kinnitty; Drumcullen v Tullamore.
And the semi-finals of the Intermediate Hurling Championship will be Shamrocks v Coolderry and St Rynagh’s v Shinrone.
