The Tullamore Court Hotel Offaly Football Championships commence this weekend, with first round games in all grades.
There is a huge amount to look forward to this season. For example, will Tullamore manage to retain the title for the first time in almost a century after a dramatic Dowling Cup success last year? Or will one of the other contenders emerge to achieve glory again.
Eight teams compete in the top flight of the Offaly Football Championship and a representative from each of the clubs attended a launch with the sponsors Tullamore Court Hotel last week. Offaly County Board Chairman said he was delighted that the Hotel has continued its long-standing support of Offaly GAA through this sponsorship.
With the split season now in place, it’s all-systems-go for the clubs in Offaly. Clara, of course, are back in the top flight after their Senior B success in 2021, while Clonbullogue move up to Senior ‘B’ after their Intermediate triumph.
In the Senior Football Championship, the action begins on Friday evening with Tullamore and Shamrocks meeting in a local derby. Last year, their first round tie ended all-square. Also on Friday evening, 2019 champions Ferbane take on Cappincur in Clara. Then, on Saturday evening, there’s the eagerly-awaited game between Edenderry and Rhode, while Durrow and Clara will hope to build on last season’s progress when they meet in Cappincur.
Tickets are now available online for all games and please remember no cash will be accepted at the turnstiles. This is the relevant link:
